Dynavac, a Weiss Technik company, has delivered one of the largest thermal vacuum chambers in Europe to a leading aerospace company.
Dynavac brings truly global capabilities to deliver world-class space simulation systems- of any size, at any location. This system was designed by Dynavac in Eragny, France, working in close coordination with the Hingham, Massachusetts facility.
At the core of the system are Dynavac gaseous nitrogen thermal control units, engineered to deliver stable, reliable test conditions from -180°C to +170°C. The newly installed shroud — a large aluminum inner liner carrying an internal network of pipework for circulating liquid and gaseous nitrogen — traveled thousands of kilometers before being maneuvered into place with centimeter-level precision through a corridor just 4.0 meters wide, in a 12-hour operation.
Dynavac’s system controls give system operators a modern and highly capably HMI to define test protocols, monitor and record every system parameter in real time. Extensive system monitoring and safety interlocks protect the test article and system as the chamber cycles through the vacuum and temperature cycles.
With dedicated design, manufacturing, and test facilities on both sides of the Atlantic, Dynavac draws on combined engineering expertise to deliver complex, custom-built systems anywhere in the world, backed by local sales and service support through the extensive worldwide Weiss Technik organization.
With the shroud installed, the complete chamber weighs nearly 27.5 tonnes. This milestone adds another chamber to the over 300 Dynavac systems worldwide- further building Dynavac’s position as a trusted global partner for mission-critical space simulation.
