Optical Coating Systems
Proven platforms for precision optical and large telescope mirror thin film PVD coating
Optical Coating Systems
Our optical coating systems cover a wide array of applications serving multiple industries. From precision optical coatings, DLC Coatings or astronomical mirror coatings, our systems are designed to meet your most complex coating needs. No matter how demanding the coating challenge—anti-reflective, high reflectors, edge filters, polarizers, or beam splitters, we can design a system that achieves the results you expect.
Astronomical Mirror Coating
Coating large astronomical mirrors requires advanced equipment design and engineering coupled with precision vacuum technology. With its unique blend of skills, Dynavac is recognized in the astronomical community as a trusted supplier of systems for depositing high-reflectivity metals onto large astronomical telescope mirrors.
Precision Optical Coating
No matter how complex your coating challenge, we strive to understand your process needs and create a system that offers dependable performance, precision, and consistency, run after run. Our Odyssey and Hyperion platforms cover your needs from R&D/small-batch through to high-volume production. The Dynavac Application Lab can work with you to optimize coating processes and equipment before committing to capital expense.

High reflectivity large scale telescope mirror coatings via long throw sputtering
Here we present reflectivity measurements of long-throw sputtered aluminum coatings at normal and oblique incidence angles on glass test chips. Experimental results indicate that water vapor partial pressure, not incident angle, is the dominant factor for front surface reflectivity of sputtered aluminum.
Eos Astronomical Mirror Deposition System Successfully Installed in Spain
Dynavac, the trusted leader in Astronomical Mirror Deposition Systems, is pleased to announce that it has successfully commissioned its flagship Eos System at the Observatorio Astrofisico de Javalambra (OAJ) in Teruel, Spain.
Dynavac Develops Multi-Layer Silver Coating for Astronomical Telescope Mirror at KAFB Facility
Dynavac has successfully developed and deposited a multi-layer silver coating onto a 3.5-meter astronomical mirror at the Air Force Research Lab’s Starfire Optical Range at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. This significant milestone is expected to establish a new industry standard in producing silver coatings for large-area mirror applications.
