Challenge: An industrial lighting company needed to increase throughput and profitability of their reflector production line to meet production demands. Their existing manufacturing method involved a three-step deposition process using individual work centers. With a 17-hour/batch production cycle, the method was inefficient and had very high operating costs.
Solution: The Company turned to Dynavac for a manufacturing solution that would yield greater throughput and profitability while maintaining product quality. Dynavac engineers went to work developing both a deposition process and system that eliminated a major production step and consolidated the remaining two into one operation. This resulted in three-fold reduction of cycle time and significant decrease in operating costs. The system features a dual-door vacuum chamber equipped with load mechanisms to enable continuous flow of product into the vacuum chamber. Further benefit is overall noise reduction that eliminates the company’s OSHA-mandated noise reduction procedures.
